Game FAQs

Q: What is the Star Stable competition? A: Star Stable is a fun and exciting interactive competition, the premise being simple. Run your own stable in the Spring Racing Carnival, by entering a selection of horses, as well as nominating your own stable jockey and trainer.

You select the real horses, jockeys and trainers, and they receive virtual winnings from 84 races across 8 feature race meetings for your stable according to their real, actual performance in each race meeting. Results are entered and processed soon after the completion of each race meeting. Your stable is then ranked against your friends and relatives within your own 'Mini League', and against everyone else playing from your State, and in the entire competition.

Selecting your stable

Quick Tips

  • Select a complete stable of 10 horses, 1 jockey and 1 trainer;
  • You'll need to select the 10 horses for your stable within the $1,000,000 budget;
  • You'll need to select 1 jockey and 1 trainer, free of charge;
  • You'll be able to make 2 horse trades in each of the nominated seven (7) trade periods, as well as trading your jockey and/or trainer if you wish to do so;
  • You'll also have the use of 2 additional WILDCARD trades. You'll be able to trade an extra horse at TWO occasions of your choosing during any trade period, to trade a THIRD horse.

Select your complete stable

  • You must select a FULL stable of 10 horses within your $1 million budget, as well as 1 jockey and 1 trainer before the beginning of the first featured race meeting in order to win virtual prize money.
  • You must finalise your stable before the Lockout prior to the start of the competition, which is 11.00AM AEST on Saturday 4th October, 2014. If you do not select your stable before the Lockout, your stable will automatically be filled for you with a random selection from the Top 100 most popular horses after this time and prior to the first featured race of the first meeting.
Selecting your stable FAQs

Q: How many horses, jockeys and trainers do I have to start with, and do I need to have that exact number? A: You MUST select a total of 1 jockey and 1 trainer (free), as well as 10 horses within your starting budget of a virtual $1 million. You must finalise your stable before the Lockout prior to the start of the competition, which is 11.00AM AEST on Saturday 4th October, 2014. If you do not select your stable before the Lockout, your stable will automatically be filled for you with a random selection from the Top 100 most popular horses after this time and prior to the first featured race of the first meeting.

Q: Why are there restrictions and limits on which horses I can afford? A: To make the competition challenging, a virtual $1 million dollar budget has been set up at the beginning of the competition and a virtual horse price has been assigned based on the horses' recent form and expected performances.
Throughout the game, based on the horses' performance, the value of the horse may increase. If you purchased the horse at its original value, you will be able to sell it at its new, higher price. You may accumulate money to add to your budget throughout the competition.

Stable editing & trades FAQs

Q: Why do some stables seem to have a larger budget / stable worth than I do? What is the budget? A: Due to the variations in horse prices each race meeting, some stables rise in value, and sometimes it appears that they're over the total budget. Every stable starts with exactly the same budget value ($1,000,000).

Q: I have selected a horse who has since become injured or removed from the Spring Racing Carnival. Can I replace it? A: You have a total of 2 trades available to you after each race meeting has concluded.

Q: How often do horse's values change? A: Horse values may change after each race meeting, based on their finishing positions.

Q: If a horse in my stable does not race, does their value change? A: Horses that don't race do not have their value change.

Leagues Competitions

Quick Tips

  • Create or join up to FIVE public or private mini-leagues, invite and play against friends, colleagues and/or relatives;
  • You can have as many entries in your Leagues to compete against as you like;
  • Link your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts to play against all of your Facebook/Twitter contacts in your very own, 'all-in' Facebook & Twitter Leagues!

The Leagues competition in detail

  • You can create or join, and be a part of up to FIVE private or public mini-leagues with your single stable entry. Your stable will be entered in at least one private or public mini-league, where you'll compete against friends and relatives, or a small group of other participants in the competition.
  • You can create and monitor your own league with friends, join a league that you've been invited to by work colleagues, and play against family members independently.
  • Any participants who do not have a sufficient amount of people to compete with in their leagues may be randomly added to groups, in order to form larger and more competitive leagues. It is entirely up to you whether you wish to monitor any such leagues.
  • Through the unique "Players' Chat Box" feature as part of your Activity Feed, you'll be able to communicate with your league competitors live.

Public Leagues

  • Creating a public league will allow you to invite anyone you like to your league.
  • Anyone who joins your league or obtains your unique league code will also have the ability to join and invite others to this league.
  • If you selected to join a public league, your entry will be placed in one automatically, at the completion of the next upcoming race meeting, with publishing of results.

Private Leagues

  • If you create a private league, you'll be the only one who can invite others to this league (via the League page).
  • As 'Administrator', you'll also have the ability to REMOVE stables from your league.
  • Anyone joining a Private league is not able to invite others via the league page.

  • When using the automated league invite form on your league page to send invitations, your friends/relatives will be provided with a direct link to the registration page, and will be added to your league automatically upon successful registration.

Setup your Facebook and Twitter leagues!

  • If you have a Facebook and/or Twitter account, you can now link it to your Star Stable entry.
  • In addition to all the benefits (unified login with your Facebook/Twitter credentials, sharing of data to your wall/followers, etc), you'll be able to setup your very own Facebook and/or Twitter leagues, which are in addition to your maximum 5 regular leagues!
  • On linking your account, Star Stable will automatically setup your 'all in' Facebook and/or Twitter league.
  • You'll be ranked based on total virtual winnings against any of your Facebook/Twitter contacts who also play Star Stable and have linked their accounts.
  • In addition, you can automatically invite any of those not playing with a simple wall post or tweet directly from Star Stable - or invite them to one of your leagues.
Leagues FAQs

Q: How I do create a league where I can compete against my friends? A: You can create a new league from your League page. After accessing your Leagues page, you can click on the 'Create/Join' button to create a new league, or join one that you've been invited to.

Q: How do I enter a new public league? A: To enter a new public league, you will need to create one. In your Leagues page, simply click on the 'Create/Join' button to create a new league. That league will then be merged with other stables after the publishing of the next race meeting's stats.

Q: How do I leave a league? A: In your Leagues page, simply click on the 'leave' button to leave a league. Please note that you must be in at least one league.

Q: I just joined. Why wasn't I added to a league, and where is the option to create one? A: Everyone who signs up to the Star Stable competition will be a part of a league. Look for the 'Leagues' link and button in the game menu bar on the left to access your league.

Q: I've found out that all of my friends are in another league. How do I swap leagues so I can play against them? Can you move my stable for me? A: If you've been invited into a league by email, then please follow the prompts in the email to join that league. If you have been provided specific league code, then simply click on the 'Create/Join' button and enter the code into the box provided. If you want to leave the league you are currently in, then click on the 'Leave' button and enter the code in the box provided.

Q: Can I change the name of the league that I created? A: Your league name can only be changed prior to your league's first lockout, when your league is finalised and confirmed.

Q: The league that I was in is now different, or its name changed... Why? A: We may add stables or merge leagues where they don't attract enough competitors. All care will be taken to ensure that all original stables that you had in your league will still be there, in addition to new ones. Your league name may therefore change based on these movements.

Q: Why have I been removed from my league? And why can't I rejoin it? A: If you were entered in a Private league, the league's creator may have removed your stable before the league was finalised.

Q: Why can't I invite people into my league? A: If you have been invited into a Private League, then only the league's creator has the ability to invite more people into that league from their Leagues page.

Q: Can I remove people from my league? A: If you were the Private League creator, you will have the option to remove people from your league.

    2. Once registered, each Player will receive a personalised home page, where they are required to:

      2. Participate in the selection of a fantasy 10 horse stable (Stable) to the value of $1,000,000 fantasy dollars, one stable jockey and one stable trainer;

      4. If they are invited to join a Mini League enter the appropriate details to join that Mini League. (A "Mini League" is a ‘mini competition' within the overall promotion where friends, family and colleagues can set up their own individual competition to compete against each other).
    3. Players can only enter the Promotion once per email address.
    4. Players can join up to 5 Mini Leagues at once. Mini Leagues can be joined in a number of ways:
      1. A Player can use the Mini League page on the Website to create and name a Mini League that other Players can be invited to join. The Player will be included in that Mini League.
      2. Players invited by another Player to join a Mini League will receive an invitation and link to the registration page on the Website and once registered, will be automatically added to the Mini League.
      3. A Player can accept an invitation from another Player to join their Mini League using a syndicate code that will be sent to them.
    5. Stables in the Mini League will score points as detailed in these Terms and Conditions.
  1. Game Rules and Scoring
    1. Stable
      1. Players must select 10 different thoroughbred horses (each a Horse) from a pool of Horses determined and ranked by Racing experts (Pool).  Each Horse in the Pool will be categorised and given a dollar value.  A Player may choose to add Horses to the Pool at his or her discretion by allocating their fantasy dollars to acquire Horses for their Stable.
      2. While the Player's initial Stable will be limited to a maximum value of $1,000,000, the value of a Player's Stable may exceed $1,000,000 where the value of one or more Horses held by the Player increases in accordance with clause 4.3.
      3. Registered Stables must be filled (meaning having 10 Horses selected) by 11:00am (AEST time) on Saturday 4 October 2014, or the stable will be ‘auto filled'.
      4. At specified times during the Promotion Period, a Player may vary the composition of their Stable in accordance with these Terms and Conditions (see clauses 4.6 and 4.7).
    2. Races
      1. The Promotion will be split into 8 separate race meetings (Race Meetings) and will feature 84 scoring races (Featured Races). If an additional race or an additional Race Meeting is scheduled, those races and race meetings will be included in the Promotion. If a Race Meeting or a race within a Race Meeting is abandoned or cancelled no credit allocations will be made.
      2. Each Player's Stable will receive virtual credit (Credit) if a Horse in its Stable wins or runs a place in a Featured Race throughout the Promotion Period.
      3. The amount of Credit allocated to a Player's Stable for a Horse that wins or runs a place in a Featured Race throughout the Promotion Period will equal 1 Credit per dollar of actual prize money awarded to the Horse for the relevant win or place. A Player's Stable will not receive Credit in relation to any other payment made to the Horse by the race clubs including payments such as BOBS, VOBIS incentives, trophies or rugs.
      4. Following each Race Meeting, scoring updates will be posted on the Website, setting out the number of Credits allocated to each Horse and to each Stable.
      5. In the event that a Player's Horse, jockey or trainer is unable to, or does not, participate in a Featured Race for any reason whatsoever (including where the Horse is scratched), Players are not entitled to replace the Horse, jockey or trainer (as the case may be) in relation to that Featured Race or Race Meeting, unless that Player makes a trade in one of the Trade Periods prior to the relevant Race Meeting.
      6. In the event of a dead heat for any of the positions that attracts prize money, those Players who have the affected Horses, jockeys or trainers in their Stable will be allocated Credit equal to the final prize money that the relevant race club allocates to that position.
    3. Horse Values
      1. A Horse's value will increase (per the Scoring Chart in clause 4.3(c)) if it wins a group or listed race during the Promotion Period. If a Player already had the Horse in its Stable, the value of the Player's Stable will increase accordingly. If a Player wishes to trade horses in order to add a particular Horse to its Stable, it must pay the then current value of the desired Horse, which may be higher than the starting value.
      2. If a Player Trades a Horse (as set out in clauses 4.6 and 4.7), the Player will receive the current Purchase Price of that Horse at the time of the Trade  (e.g. if a Player acquires a Horse for $100,000 fantasy dollars, the Horse then wins a Group 1 Featured Race so that its value increases by $75,000 fantasy dollars, and the Player then Trades the Horse before the next Race Meeting, the Player will receive the new Purchase Price of that Horse, being $175,000 fantasy dollars).
